Here's my first photo of the new year. I have this little tree/bush thing in my backyard. I can't remember what the landscaper said it was called. It has the best curly branches that twist and turn in the most interesting shapes. In the summer, it's covered with leaves so you don't really see anything overly iteresting. In the winter though, that's when the real show happens. I shot this photo with an open arpeture so I could get some good background blur...and some good foreground blur too in the process. I just love me some good bokeh. Heck, I love saying bokeh. LOL
Photo settings: F 5.6, SS 1/45, ISO 1600 (cleaned up in noiseware), 90mm focal length -shot in manual.

LOL - bokeh, I have been hearing the term, and can't seem to figure out what it means. I'm a little dense at times. At any rate - I absolutely adore this photo. Such great abstract quality to it. And the fact that you something that is normally covered up is fabulous. What a great bush.

Bokeh actually refers to the *quality* of out of focus areas, specifically the circular discs of light you get sometimes. (see: http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/bokeh.htm)
